Stephen M. Cannella, LC
Mr. Cannella started his career at the age of 15 working in the entertainment business. With a strong work ethic and problem solving skills, he quickly gained the confidence to start his first firm at the age of 16, where he worked as a videographer and lighting technician in the live music industry. By the age of 18, Mr. Cannella had formed a company that was recognized as the east coast’s premier live event videography and visual design firm.
With this early springboard into the entertainment market, Mr. Cannella became a fulltime member of the motion picture industry, where he was employed as a chief lighting technician on commercials, TV shows and major motion pictures. Working in film gave Mr. Cannella a unique view on lighting design which is the hallmark of his design portfolio.
Throughout his tenure in the entertainment business, Mr. Cannella participated in dozens of disciplines ranging from concert lighting design to electrical distribution, rigging, system programming and technical directing, as well as projection and system control. The vast knowledge base Mr. Cannella gained during his years in the entertainment industry help him when finding unique solutions for the versatile requirements of his clients.
During the years Mr. Cannella was involved in the entertainment industry he acquired many industry credentials and certifications. He is proud to be a former member of the industry’s leading union, the International Alliance of Theatrical and Stage Employees (IATSE) having working closely with some of the most talented technicians and designers in the industry.
Mr. Cannella continues to take part in continuing education opportunities and is a recent recipient of the NCQLP’s Lighting Certified (LC) credential. Mr. Cannella is affiliated with many of the industry’s most recognized working groups and has lectured extensively including visits to Columbia University, NYU, and The Art Institute of Philadelphia to share his unique views on technology and lighting design.
Christopher P. Obssuth
Mr. Obssuth is a veteran of the New York tri-state area’s technologies design market and has been a successful proprietor in the audio visual market for the last 25 years. His career in the technologies field began while serving in the United States Marine Corps as an avionics / electronic countermeasures and counter surveillance engineer. This training solidified Mr. Obssuth’s understanding of the intricacies of electronic equipment and instilled a respect for precision and organizational efficiency.
When Mr. Obssuth completed his military service, he began a varied career in the then-emerging industry of integrated audio video systems. He has been recognized by many industry publications and has attended over two decades’ worth of industry courses and training seminars.
Early in Mr. Obssuth’s career he worked for many of the industry’s leading manufacturers, lending his wide knowledge base primarily to the areas of product development and design, namely for Coemar which is now a world renowned lighting manufacture. His strong commitment to technological excellence led Mr. Obssuth to start his own audio video and lighting firm in 1992. Servicing clients such as Merrill Lynch, The American Museum of Natural History and FAO Schwartz earned Mr. Obssuth industry recognition and acclaim early in his career, forging the way for his future in the New York area marketplace.
Kimberly Cwiakala
A graduate of Berkeley College, with a degree in business administration, Kimberly is involved in nearly every aspect of a project from quoting on through to final billing. As a primary point of contact for most customers Kim strives to always provide quick helpful responses to our clients. When not at work it is easiest to find Kim at a local concert or with her fiancé, a graphic designer who also graciously helps our firm however he can.
Peter Vandertulip
A former avionics technician in the US Marine Corps. Pete brings an enormous amount of positive energy and professionalism to his position. Leading the onsite tasks of our projects Pete ensures that the systems are installed as designed, overseeing every detail right down to the wire. Having formerly been employed with NJ’s largest firealarm system company Pete worked in hospitals, schools, government buildings, and prisons making him exceptionally competent with code compliance and system reliability. When out of the office Pete is a tech through and through always reading and tinkering with his own systems. He is proud to have been recently Crestron Certified as well as provided an OSHA 10 certificate for his efforts in this year’s Synapse “Safer Systems” initiative.
Renardo Cardoza
Our most recent hire has proved to be the best yet. Renardo comes to Synapse with years of residential and Commercial Audio Video experience in the NJ marketplace. A system programmer and avid installation tech, Ren’s attention to detail and phenomenal dedication to the customer experience make him a go to for any complex systems. Having already mastered URC and other control platforms he is looking forward to becoming a Crestron DMC-E and moving on to his CSP Certificate.
